PRE-WAR Style! A couple of months ago, we, Jason, Barry, and John were looking through our "Gibson's Fabulous Flattops" book and talking about those pre-war Gibson SJ-200S.
".. the true king of the flat-tops.."
We’ve always loved the early Super Jumbo 200 made by Gibson and started thinking about what made the Gibson Super Jumbos so special. We all suggested details that made the Historic Gibson SJ-200 original pre-war beauties the true “King of the Flattops”. We also talked to Dave Carpenter as well as a couple of our customers that we knew were diehard Gibson SJ200 acoustic guitar fans.
After all of our brainstorming, details like Adirondack spruce top, Rosewood back and sides, script Gibson logo and ebony fingerboard and bridge rose to the top of our list for the Gibson Historic Super Jumbo 200.
In our discussions, we, Jason, Barry, and John also realized that 2007 marks the 70th Anniversary of this great Gibson SJ-200 model. At this point we contacted Product Specialist, Don Ruffato and Master Luthier Ren Ferguson at Gibson Bozeman Montana with some of our ideas on creating a 70th Anniversary Gibson SJ-200 Historic acoustic guitar Platinum Edition.

They refined our rough ideas on the Gibson SJ-200 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition and added other brilliant ideas for what they thought should go into the making of a Anniversary SJ-200 Gibson Super Jumbo acoustic guitar.
